Popham Sky Click images for larger detail This collection was inspired by a series of days spent at Popham Beach in Popham, Maine. It was the last week of August 2001 and already the maples trees had darkened and were beginning to show splashes of intense orange that signaled the end of summer. A deep blue sky rested above a glassy green sea highlighted with bits of silver whitecaps. I spent most of the day beachcombing for sand dollars with my daughter. The breeze was light and cool but the sun kept us warm. At the end of the day, as we were leaving the beach, I turned around for one last glorious look. My heart was light and my mind content. I remember thinking that this was a magical day and that nothing would ever be the same again. The stones used in these pieces were apatite, peridot, iolite, carnelian, Japanese glass beads, sterling silver beads and dyed freshwater pearls. |
